Body as Therapy
A workshop for Men and Women

Running
April 20th to 22nd or September 7th to 9th

Cost $450

This workshop was developed based on African mortuary rituals for the healing of the ancestral soul of the family.

I have been powerfully struck over thirty years of working as a therapist how there are some wounds – that no matter how much work you do with them – remain intractable to movement.

Over time I discovered that there is such a love of the “family soul’ held in all humans, that we willingly shoulder the burden of the wound that has not healed [sometimes over countless generations] and will carry it until the nature of that wound is addressed within that context.

Because of this, our relationships with our bodies are often fraught with pain, resentment, anger, hopelessness, hate and loathing. Despite our best efforts to the contrary.

In this workshop we will recreate and redefine the relationship between the body, the self and the world! We will explore how 'disembodied' we have become and what we need to do to change this.

For our very worlds are created from the body we live in, they emerge from this and if we do not love our bodies or are not in our bodies or even think we are in the wrong body then what kind of world do you think you will create from this.

With dynamic group work we will unpack the origins of this relationship, by drawing on the ancestral line for the wound that has been carried down the generations, held in the body and is crying for release. Now is the time and this is the way.

With clay, art work, dialogue and transpersonal approaches we will challenge and change the beliefs and thus the world that emerges from a different relationship formed with the body! This will be a challenging and rewarding journey into some deeply seated world views and paradigms and we will together facilitate possibilities for new worlds and freedom!

The results from this can be quite miraculous.

This is my feedback from the weekend just gone. I thought the workshop was well structured and supported. The activities allowed people in their own time and space to process their story. To share with others the paradigms of family was a powerful experience in accepting that you are not alone in your experience. The validation as a person and a woman was immense. The workshop awakened in me a need to explore my family experience and generational hand down of behaviours and experience.
This allows you to challenge and change the core of your being and that of your family or tribe. The weekend allowed insights that otherwise wouldnt be explored, and was done in a respectful, insightful way to allow the women the freedom to accept what they needed to process in a gentle and empowered way. I know the insights for me and my family will be invaluable. The magic of it is potent, and the quest for change is real. The bond with the others who completed the workshop with you will be everlasting and genuine in regard. You as a facilitator were mindful of the emotion exposed and respectful of the process, this allows healing to begin.........a very powerful workshop for people who want change and to explore why they behave the way they do, and how they embody the programming from ancestoral input. Ceremony and ritual and role playing allow you to experience first hand the bonds that tie you to a painful truth and to unlock it and dialogue with it. The women support you in amazing ways, the stories are not unlike your own, and make you realise you are not alone.....I will never look back from this experience and already the changes are happening in a good way, to stand in your own power and be who you truly are born to be is a must for this workshop. Highly recommended!! DL

The huge thing for me is that I have figured out that I actually have many fathers, brothers, mothers….and that up until the workshop I have invested all of my hopes and expectations for what those relationships should or could be for me in the persons I know as mum/dad/bro. In re-enacting the familial roles, I saw the ‘souls’ of my father/paternal figures and the souls of my mother/s and sibling/s. It wasn’t a person anymore, but a force that I felt held by. For example, I saw a father who ‘sees’ me, who is strong and present and big and reassuring for the first time . And it wasn’t necessarily the person enacting the role that it came from, even though it came through them. So in essence I have changed my stereotypical view of what mother/father/sibling is and realised that I can find many versions of that in this life. I saw that my family ‘soup’ has a bit of everything, and so,what is really interesting is how I felt at the beginning that everything was far too broken to fix, and by the end I found that I had been met in a way that was really deeply healing and satisfying. Things hadn’t necessarily changed, but my need for things to be different had dissolved, and I felt happy with however things were.
The Saturday was full on… but I really enjoyed the intensity of it. Thanks for your magical ways! RH

I found it very powerful but a bit of a sleeper – took a while to notice what was different because it was more absence of previous feelings than new ones.  Very, very worthwhile –  but disorienting because I’ve had to discover what was different in practice  - I seem to be more relaxed in social situations and more happy and less concerned about external measures of worth – feeling more loved on the inside!  But also some things that had seemed important before now don’t so much and I am not sure what’s going to take their place.   Not an uncomfortable feeling but a bit unfamiliar! Prue created a safe space and guided our group to tune into and relate to our bodies in a unique way, that provided us all with deep insights into how we hold our emotional stories there-in. Our process began at home before the workshop with enquiry and journaling for preparation, which really helped to set the tone and saw us ripe and ready to go.  During the weekend Prue facilitated the group to bond together well with Art Therapy, discussion, Transpersonal Techniques and Role Playing with Individual, Partnered and Group work, which was at times quite challenging and at all times very rewarding.  We immersed ourselves in tears and laughter, good company, and the comfort of knowing that we were all there for the same reason – to learn and to grow, which is exactly what we did! An empowering and memorable weekend, which brought to light some underlying core issues, which were worked with and healed.  With Prue’s wonderful support and the support of the group during interactive processes, a little more of myself has been set free.  I feel lighter, wiser, stronger and more at peace within myself.  Definitely an experience worth having!  Thank you Prue.’ DS
